UK PM Sunak Delays Fiscal Statement until November 17


Rishi Sunak, the new British prime minister, informed his cabinet on Wednesday that the government will postpone a fiscal event until November 17 to make tough choices correctly and with a consultation.

Sunak agreed with Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt to postpone the fiscal statement scheduled on October 31. Instead, Sunak told the cabinet that the administration would prioritize budgetary sustainability and economic stability.

According to his office, “(Sunak) said that it is necessary to make the appropriate judgments and that there is time for such decisions to be verified with Cabinet.”

The Autumn Statement will include a complete projection from the Office for Budget Responsibility. In addition, it will outline how to get public finances on a sustainable foundation and see debt down in the medium term.
