Mosaddek Hossain was instrumental in Bangladesh’s victory against the United Arab Emirates by 32 runs on Tuesday in Dubai, sweeping the two-match T20 series.

After opening batsman Mehidy Hasan’s 46 off 37 balls established a solid foundation and Mosaddek (27) and Liton Das (25) kept the runs coming, Bangladesh reached 169-5.

In a 32-run unbroken stand over the last three overs, Yasir Ali and Nurul Hasan gave the innings some late momentum. Left-arm spinner Aayan Afzal Khan, 16, grabbed 2-33 while Aryan Lakra bowled three clean overs to produce scores of 1-14.

UAE’s reaction was disastrous, falling to 29-4 after losing three wickets for only two runs, with Mosaddek dismissing Aryan Lakra and Vriitya Aravind in quick succession.

Although Captain Chundangapoyil Rizwan and Basil Hameed fought valiantly in a partnership of 90, UAE couldn’t keep up with the needed run pace.

Rizwan went unbeaten on 51 off 36 balls, making his maiden international T20 half-century as UAE concluded on 137-5. Hameed was out for 42 in the last over.

In the first round of the T20 World Cup in Australia next month, UAE will compete against the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and Namibia.

Bangladesh will participate in the Super 12 stage of the tournament. They take against South Africa, Pakistan, India, and two more first-round qualifiers.
