Two killed by shelling in Zaporizhzhia: According to regional governor Oleksandr Starukh, Russian troops’ shelling overnight in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia resulted in at least two fatalities, the destruction or damage of several homes, and extensive fires.

Seven Russian airstrikes caused two women to pass away: one during the shelling and the other while traveling to the hospital, said Starukh on the messaging app Telegram.

He said, “At least five people are beneath the wreckage of buildings. A three-year-old daughter is among them. Rescue efforts are ongoing.

One of the four areas of Ukraine that Russia has annexed is Zaporizhzhia, which Kyiv says it would never recognize if its land illegally taken by force and has denounced by Ukraine’s friends.

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, gave the order for the Russian state to take control of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, Zaporizhzhia, which Ukrainian engineers currently control despite taken by Russian troops early in the conflict.

The power plant is directly on the front line, on a Ukrainian force-held bank of a reservoir that control by Russian troops, and both sides have warned of the risk of a nuclear accident.
