The US reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remark that “this is not the period for war” about the turmoil in Ukraine today.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken referred to the remark while speaking with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, adding, “We couldn’t agree more.”
For bilateral discussions with many ministers, including his colleague Mr. Blinken, Mr. Jaishankar is traveling to the US.

After the meeting, Mr. Jaishankar briefed the media, stating that the topic of discussion was political cooperation and evaluation of regional and global challenges.
Earlier today, Mr. Jaishankar spoke with Lloyd Austin, the US Defense Secretary at the Pentagon.
Mr. Jaishankar added, “I do share with you that the global situation has gotten significantly more complicated this year (due to) a multitude of causes, the Indo-Pacific in particular,” referring to China’s position in the Indo-Pacific area.
