Taylor Swift dating history: full list of famous boyfriends.
Nobody writes a breakup song better than Taylor Swift, just ask Jake Gyllenhaal.
The “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer is known to share all the ups and downs of every relationship through her lyrics, leaving fans trying to figure out which ex-boyfriend inspired which songs.
Following the re-recording and relaunching of her past albums like “Fearless” and “Red,” her past lovers have also made headlines again.
Check out Swift’s dating history below.
Joe Jonas
While their relationship in 2008 only lasted a couple of months, Taylor used the experience, including Jonas’s breakup with her during a 25-second phone call, as inspiration for her second album, “Fearless.”
Songs like “Forever & Always”, “Last Kiss”, “Better Than Revenge” and “Mr. Perfectly Fine” were all written about the DNCE singer, who later won his first Grammy for the album.
“You might think I’d mention Joe, that guy who broke up with me on the phone. But I’m not going to mention it in my monologue. Hey Joe! I’m doing great and I’m hosting ‘SNL,’ but I’m not going to write about it in my monologue, ”Swift sang during her monologue the first time she hosted“ Saturday Night Live ”in 2009.
Whether it’s for time, or for the Grammy, the two seem to be on good terms, as Jonas celebrated with Swift after her appearance on “SNL” last week.
Lucas Till
The couple co-starred in Swift’s “You Belong With Me” music video in 2009, but they met on the set of “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” in which Swift had a small cameo.
The couple broke up months later saying it was better if they were just friends.
Taylor Lautner
Popularly known as “Taylor Squared,” the couple met on the set of “Valentines Day,” where they played high school love interests.
It is rumored that Lautner liked Swift more than she did, which resulted in their breakup. Swift reportedly wrote “Back to December” about her romance in which she apparently tried to apologize to the “Twilight” star.
“You gave me roses and I left them there to die / So this is me swallowing my pride, standing in front of you saying I’m sorry for that night,” Swift wrote in “Back to December.” “You gave me all your love and I just said goodbye”
In response to the song, Lautner later said, “That’s exactly what it does.” Oh.
Cory Monteith
The late “Glee” star and Swift only dated for a month, but still earned a sweet love song from the singer. The song “Mine”, about a sweet boy she barely knows, has been alleged to be about Monteith.
John mayer
Dear John, how could you forget this one?
The two dated just a couple of months after collaborating on “Half of My Heart.” Swift, who was 20, then called up the “Gravity” singer, then 32, in a song titled “Dear John.”
“Dear John I see it all now, it was wrong / don’t you think 19 is too young to play your dark twisted games?” Swift sang on the track.
Mayer later responded to the song in an interview with Rolling Stone, saying, “As a songwriter, I’ll say I think it’s a cheap songwriting.”
Jake gyllenhaal
Do you remember “Everything Too Good” now, Jake?
Even though they only dated for three months in 2010, Swift had a lot to say about the actor on his recently re-released album “Red,” including a scathing 10-minute version of “All Too Well,” a song. about the breakup of the couple.
It is also said to have inspired the songs “We Are Never Getting Back Together”, “State of Grace” and “The Moment I Knew”.
At the time, Swift, 20, was caught off guard when Gyllenhaal, 29, broke up with her via text message, claiming the age difference was too much for the “Brokeback Mountain” actor.
Swift also recently released a short film of “All Too Well” that shows the timeline of the couple’s romance.
Conor Kennedy
Swift dated Robert F. Kennedy’s grandson, Conor Kennedy, for a few months in 2012.
The unlikely duo raised a pair of eyebrows given their respective ages at the time: Swift was 22 and Kennedy was just 18.
Swift was a longtime Kennedy fanatic before she even met Conor. He even wrote a song about Robert [Bobby] Kennedy and his wife Ethel’s courtship called “Starlight”.
Harry Styles
Known as “Haylor,” the couple made their first public appearance in December 2015 on a walk through Central Park.
“Swifties” and “Directioners” at that time went crazy for the new romance, but the excitement was short-lived and the couple broke up after 3 months.
That same year Taylor apparently threw a shot at Styles, sitting in the crowd during her performance of “We Are Never Getting Back Together” at the Grammys, singing the hit with an English accent.
Calvin Harris
The Scottish DJ and singer sparked dating rumors after being photographed together at Whole Foods in color-coordinated outfits in March 2015.
They then made it official by attending the Billboard Music Awards together in May, where they got some PDAs for the cameras.
The couple dated for over a year, but in March 2016, Harris called off things in what his friends described as a “brutal” separation.
Tom Hiddleston
Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston met and danced together at the Met Gala in 2016.
Just a month later, images surfaced of the two kissing on the Rhode Island beach, solidifying their relationship.
The pair, known as “Hiddleswift” took everyone by surprise, including Swift.
Rumor has it that she wrote the song “Getaway Car” about how bad she felt about having a new relationship so soon after her breakup with Harris.
Either way, the couple left him only a few months later.
Joe alwyn
Fast forward to 2017 and Taylor found herself in her longest and most secret relationship yet.
Even after dating for over 4 years, the English actor and the pop star rarely make public appearances hand in hand. In fact, they have yet to walk the red carpet together. But Swift has never been happier.
“I was falling in love with someone who had a wonderfully normal and balanced life,” she said in her 2020 autobiographical documentary “Miss Americana.”
“We decided together that we wanted our relationship to be private. I was happy. But I wasn’t happy with the way they trained me to be happy. It was happiness without the participation of anyone else. We were just happy. ”
The happy couple seems to bond over music and cats. Joe co-wrote several songs on Taylor’s albums “Evermore” and “Folklore” under the pseudonym William Bowery, while the couple spent their COVID-19 lockdown along with their three cats: Meredith, Benjamin, and Olivia.
