India beat Pakistan in a thrilling Men’s T20 World Cup final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Virat Kohli led India to victory.
In a thrilling finish befitting the occasion, India needed 16 runs from an improbable last over to successfully chase 160 with four wickets left in front of a boisterous 90,293 spectators, with Kohli finishing 82 not out.
They were having trouble at different points, but never more so than when Pakistan needed 13 runs from the last three balls to win.
Mohammad Nawaz’s full toss was later ruled a no-ball, but Kohli, a maestro of these kinds of evenings, whacked for six.

Nawaz then struck a comprehensive, and Kohli was caught off the following ball, but India could still score three runs thanks to a deflection off the stumps.
When Dinesh Karthik was eventually stumped, the game swung again, but Nawaz bowled another wide ball to new batter Ravichandran Ashwin, this time down the leg side.
Ashwin had one more delivery to take, so he hoisted the ball over mid-off to start a raucous celebration in the bleachers.
Ashwin ran towards his team’s approaching teammates as Kohli knelt in the center.
Both teams have Thursday to rest up before India takes against the Netherlands at 8:00 BST and Pakistan takes on Zimbabwe at noon BST.
