Swedish Coast Guard Discovered A Fourth Gas Leak On Nord Stream Pipelines

The Swedish coast guard spotted a fourth gas leak on the damaged Nord Stream pipes earlier this week, according to a spokeswoman for the Svenska Dagbladet newspaper.

The European Union has pledged a “strong” reaction to deliberately interrupting its energy infrastructure. It believes that sabotage was responsible for the gas leaks on the underwater Russian pipelines to Europe.

According to Jenny Larsson, a spokesman for the Coast Guard, “two of these four are in Sweden’s exclusive economic zone.”

She told the newspaper late on Wednesday. The other two violations occurred in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark.

An inquiry for information from Reuters on Thursday did not get a prompt response from the Coast Guard.

Both pipelines were packed with gas gushing out into the Baltic Sea since Monday’s ruptures, even though none was in operation at the time of the suspected explosions.

According to the Swedish coast guard, the fourth leak was discovered on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. And it’s not far from a more significant hole found on the adjacent Nord Stream 1.

The two pipeline sections in the Danish seas each had one hole, according to the officials this week.
