To progress in the last round of group matches on Sunday, Spain, the 2019 winners, knew they had to defeat the winless South Korean.

Roberto Bautista Agut and Carlos Alcaraz, the world’s number one singles player, advanced quickly to the round of eight with straight-set victories.

In his first match after winning the US Open, Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada defeated Alcaraz 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 6-2 on Friday.

To advance to the knockout rounds, the 19-year-old overcame Kwon Soon-woo 6-4 7-6 (7-1), while Bautista Agut defeated Hong Seong-chan 6-1 6-3.
