One arrested for vandalizing Washington Monument: After the Washington Monument defaced late on Tuesday, authorities said that a suspect had taken into custody and that the vicinity around the monument’s base had temporarily restricted.
“Temporarily blocked area surrounding the Washington Monument’s base. USPP is holding an adult guy for vandalism. “The repair procedure will work on by NPS (National Park Service) conservators, “posted on Twitter by the United States Park Police (USPP).
Local media outlets shared pictures of red paint on the west side of the monument’s foundation on Twitter.
The 550-foot-tall monument stands between the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and is a well-liked tourist destination.
