The Chilean was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by the world number seven in Kazakhstan in only 62 minutes.
In the round of 16, Djokovic will face Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands.
Marin Cilic, who lost to Djokovic in the Tel Aviv Open championship match on Sunday, advanced to the second round after defeating German Oscar Otte5-7 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 after rallying from a set down.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, the third seed, advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Luca Nardi of Italy 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-3) in the second round.
Harriet Dart of the United Kingdom was defeated 6-3, 6-4 by third-seeded Alize Cornet in Tunisia, knocking her out of the Jasmin Open.
The Ostrava Open’s top seed, Iga Swiatek, advanced to the quarterfinals when Ajla Tomljanovic withdrew due to injury in the second round.
The first set was won by Swiatek 7-5, and the second was tied at 2-2 when Australian Tomljanovic withdrew due to what seemed to be a knee injury.
