Nike postpones launch of Travis Scott sneaker collaboration.
Nike postponed the launch of a sneaker collaboration with Travis Scott in the wake of the Astroworld music festival tragedy, the company announced Monday.
“Out of respect for all those affected by the tragic events of the Astroworld Festival, we will postpone the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack,” said Nike in a message posted on their website.
The sneakers were reported to be released on December 16.
Ten people were killed and hundreds more injured in a terrifying surge of crowds at Scott’s concert on November 5 at Houston’s NRG Park.
Two days after the tragedy, a gesture with the Travis Scott song “Out West” was removed from the Fortnite Item Shop.
The police are conducting a criminal investigation into what happened at the festival.
No charges have been filed, but dozens of lawsuits have been filed for deaths and injuries of concertgoers.
On Monday, local officials also announced an internal investigation into the cause of the fatal surge in crowds.
