Matthew Broderick tests positive for COVID-19.

Matthew Broderick tested positive for COVID-19 just hours before taking the Broadway stage for “Plaza Suite” on Tuesday night.

The Instagram account of the work. announced the diagnosis stating that the 60-year-old actor had contracted the coronavirus “despite strict adherence to COVID safety protocols.”

“A second test confirmed the diagnosis,” the statement said, adding that Broderick’s wife and co-star, Sarah Jessica Parker, would continue to perform in the play that night.

The statement concluded: “Everyone wishes him a speedy recovery.”

Fans sent Broderick they’re well wishes in the comments section.

One person, who said he attended the play Tuesday night, praised the actor’s stand-in for stepping in on such short notice.

“I was in the audience tonight and wow,” the audience member wrote. “Michael McGrath gave an outstanding performance on only a few hours’ notice. Bravo!”

In the play, Broderick and Parker, 57, play a trio of couples in three acts: A distant husband and wife celebrating their 23rd anniversary; a New Jersey housewife who is secretly reunited with her high school boyfriend who has become a major Hollywood producer; and longtime spouses fighting while her daughter has locked herself in the bathroom, refusing to marry.

All the shenanigans take place in Suite 719 at the Plaza.

“Plaza Suite” just opened at the Hudson Theater on March 28.

Earlier on Tuesday, Broderick appeared on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” to promote the work.

On a published photo On the morning talk show’s Instagram account, the “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” star appears to be very close with hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.

It appears that the segment was filmed before Broderick knew he was positive for COVID-19.

“Kelly and Ryan are tested regularly, and additional testing steps were taken today,” a production source exclusively tells Page Six. “The program continues to follow approved corporate protocol for each and every situation.”

Ripa, 51, and Seacrest, 47, appeared to be healthy as filmed Wednesday’s show as usual with guest Eddie Redmayne.
