‘Hero’ taxi driver locks passenger in taxi before bomb detonates near hospital in Liverpool.

The taxi driver, locally named David Perry, is reported to have stopped his vehicle in front of Liverpool Women’s Hospital after locking his passenger inside the vehicle when he noticed she was carrying a “device.” While the passenger-carrying the bomb was trapped in the cabin, Mr. Perry got out of his taxi.

The male passenger, who has not been formally identified, is reportedly the only fatality in the incident and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Since then it has been reported that Mr. Perry has been admitted to a hospital where he is in stable condition and is being treated for his injuries.

Dan Wootton, 38, of GB News, responded to the reports by tweeting: “Liverpool taxi driver Dave Perry may well have saved hundreds of people from a Remembrance Day terror attack at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

“God bless this great Briton.

“A hero.

“And God damn the bastards who keep trying to inflict their cowardly terror.

“They will not win.”

According to the Sun, Kev Cuthbertson, who claims to be a friend and colleague of Mr. Perry, wrote on Facebook: “It is my partner who exploded.

“It’s wrong, wrong.

“He’s a fellow driver at Delta.

“His ear has been sewn up again, he has burns and shrapnel wounds and other quite serious injuries.

Greater Manchester Police said North West Counter-Terrorism Police detectives “continue to keep an open mind” about what caused the blast.

They are also said to be “working closely with colleagues from the Merseyside police as the” investigation continues to pace.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson, 57, said: “My thoughts go out to all those affected by today’s terrible incident in Liverpool.

“I want to thank the emergency services for their quick response and professionalism, and the police for their continued work in the investigation.”
