Chelsea extended unbeaten run to seven games under Graham Potter

Chelsea’s undefeated streak under Graham Potter now stands at seven games following a scoreless draw with a determined Brentford team.

In a fierce west London rivalry, the home team had three decent opportunities, but Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga denied Ivan Toney’s and Bryan Mbeumo’s headers on two separate occasions.

Brentford’s David Raya denied Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta and Kai Havertz on separate occasions.

The visitors’ substitutes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic, came close to winning it late, but Raya again performed brilliantly to make crucial stops to maintain the score.

The result maintains Potter’s team in the fourth position, seven points behind the lead held by Arsenal, while Brentford, now in ninth place, has drawn five of its 11 Premier League games this year.

Bees manager Thomas Frank will be please with his team’s performance as they dominate for the most of a competitive game at the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, during the four minutes of stoppage time, Frank had to endure some anxious moments as Carney Chukwuemeka forced Raya into a fantastic save before Chelsea asked for a penalty for a handball.

Still, the referee, Jarred Gillett, thought Ethan Pinnock had not engaged in an illegal act.
