At least 20 killed in a bus accident in Colombia: On Saturday, at least 20 people died, and 15 more hurt when a bus crashed on the Pan-American Highway in southwest Colombia.
When the tragedy happened, the bus was en route from the coastal city of Tumaco in Colombia‘s southwest to Cali, 200 miles (320 kilometers) to the northeast.
Captain Albertland Agudelo of the Narino department traffic police said that 20 people had died.
A three-year-old child and an eight-year-old boy were among those hurt.
In a message to the media, Colonel Oscar Lamprea, the area’s head of traffic and transportation, stated that investigators are looking into potential “mechanical faults in the braking system.”
According to an early account, the motorist lost control in a foggy region after coming out of a bend.
Raising the car upright, removing the wounded, and retrieving the deceased required nine hours of labor from the police and fire departments.
