Angel Di Maria Scores As Juventus Earned Their First Champions League Win

Angel Di Maria’s inspiring performance led Juventus to their first Champions League victory this season versus Maccabi Haifa.

He helped Juve score their first goal on Dusan Vlahovic’s strike and Adrien Rabiot’s double.

Juve, however, still has a tough road ahead of them to make it to the round of 16, as they are four points behind PSG and Benfica in Group H.

When Din David drew the score back to 2-1, Israel’s Haifa frightened the nervous home crowd and twice struck the goalposts.

Juve supporters were disillusioned by their team’s dismal performance, which has put manager Max Allegri under fire. Less than 29,000 people attended the game at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

The atmosphere did not improve in the 12th minute as Vlahovic missed two excellent opportunities to score his sixth goal of the year in a matter of seconds. Josh Cohen successfully stopped a low shot of his before he misfired on a clear finish.

However, experienced Argentine Di Maria gave his side a boost in the 35th minute with a deft ball to Rabiot, who hammered into the goal.

Four minutes after the break, a former PSG player split the Maccabi defense to unleash Vlahovic, who this time finished coolly.

David, one of many athletes fasting for Yom Kippur, caused tension when he bypassed Wojciech Szczesny and went home.

But Di Maria once again delivered for Juve, swinging into a tight corner where Rabiot flicked the ball home.
