Angel Di Maria Out For Three Weeks With Hamstring Injury

The struggling club said that Angel Di Maria would be sidelined for three weeks after injuring his hamstring in Juventus’ dismal loss to Maccabi Haifa.

Juve said in a statement that Di Maria’s tests on Thursday “indicated a low-grade injury to the right hamstring.”

Juve says the midfielder would need around 20 days to heal fully.

23 minutes into Juventus’ shocking 2-0 loss in Israel, which put them in danger of being eliminated from the Champions League, Argentina winger Di Maria was replaced.

With two games left, Juve is third in Group H and five points behind second-placed Benfica after a defeat that prompted both coach Massimiliano Allegri and president Andrea Agnelli to express his sadness for the club.

The 34-year-old has already missed two games due to injury after signing as a free agent in the summer and was scheduled to return to Serie A action after serving a two-match ban.

He won’t be able to play for Juventus in their last two group games against Benfica and Paris Saint-Germain, who lead their league.

Juventus will travel to Torino on Saturday, 10 points behind Serie A leaders Napoli.
