South Korea’s meteorological service said that Saturday’s small earthquake near Gossan was the strongest of the 38 earthquakes registered this year and may have broken windows or furniture.
Emergency personnel from the center of North Chungcheong province and its environs got more than 50 calls from locals reporting feeling the earth shake. According to Lee Jae-Yeong, an official from the Safety Ministry’s disaster headquarters.
According to Lee, there have been no complaints of substantial damage yet.
Although there were no immediate indications of issues, the office of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said he gave authorities the order to assess the security of the country’s telecommunications and energy networks.
